By now, you’ve probably heard all about MOPS reaching into new places to connect moms to one another through the power of community, encouragement and hope. We’re so excited to share about all the new places MOPS groups are meeting that it leaves us a bit breathless. So, while we catch our breath, we thought it best to let our moms share their stories of spreading MOPS love to women in new places all around the world.
From the Heart
On the outskirts of her town in northern Brazil, Otnaracy Silva saw a great need. The native mothers living in this area were desperate for community. So Otnaracy did something a little bit crazy and a lot bit courageous: She started a MOPS group.
On a Mission
Knowing that many of the moms at the mission would not feel comfortable walking through the doors of the church, she was compelled to find a space, develop relationships and gain the trust of these women right where they were instead.
Her ultimate hope for this unlikely MOPS group is to create a space to welcome moms in, among friends, and act as a starting point for women to continue or being exploring who Jesus is.
Kristie Ritter knows that not all moms who want to come to MOPS can, so she’s going to them instead. Her group acts as a bridge to introduce moms to traditional MOPS groups once they are out of prison.
“We want to meet brand new moms right where they are – the hospital – and give them the opportunity to embrace motherhood alongside a tribe of moms beginning this new stage of life at the very same time.”
