Twitter Party Basics

What is a Twitter party?
A Twitter party is an online discussion that happens in real time with a corresponding event (like a webinar, seminar, convention, live broadcast, etc.). You can join in if you are attending the event or even if you’re at home in your robe and slippers.
How do I attend?
If you don’t already have a Twitter account, you will need to create one here. You can also download the Twitter app for your smartphone and participate that way.
Once you have an account, the way you join the party is by following a “hashtag.” A hashtag is a word or phrase with a # sign in front of it. People use hashtags so they can participate in an ongoing conversation on a topic.
How do I follow a hashtag?
On Twitter, enter the hashtag into the search bar at the top of the page. That will pull up a page with all the tweets in that category. (You can also just click on a hashtag you see in someone else’s tweet.)
Another option is to follow a hashtag is by going to tweetchat.com then entering the hashtag in the search bar at the top of the page.
Now that you're in the know, jump into the conversation and tweet away!
