10 Things that will be Lost

One of the great mysteries of parenting is how items can simply disappear, never to be seen again. Here are ten things that you can expect to turn up missing in your house at some point or another:

1. A library book – from the public or school library. The book will seemingly disappear into thin air, but may turn up in some totally illogical place after the due date.
2. The top to a marker that has only been used once – a good one, not one from a dollar-store marker set.
3. A pair of really good scissors. Someone will have borrowed them to cut their doll's hair. They may return at some point, but never in the same condition.
4. A jacket. It may be left at a ballgame, school, the park, a friend's house. Jackets and other lost pieces of outerwear are rarely seen again.
5. Hair bows. These may fall out at a store, restaurant or church and are never noticed as missing until you return home.
6. Glasses. Could be yours or your child's. You’ll usually find them about two days after purchasing a new pair.
7. A video/CD/DVD. When one of these items goes missing, it will be either your child’s current favorite or a brand new one.
8. Money your child loses. Not the money you spent on those lessons they just had to take before deciding two weeks into the prepaid session that they hate them.
9. A paper from school. This one varies, it could be a permission slip, homework or, if they're lucky, a report card.
10. Your sanity. OK, that one's a stretch. It only feels that way some days!!!
