The Truth about Boogers

I’ve learned so much about life while driving the carpool to school. Recently I was eavesdropping on one of the kids’ early morning conversations and heard the 9-year-old boy ask his two backseat mates:

“Hey, do you guys know the difference between broccoli and boogers?”

“I don’t know,” shouted the 6-year-old girl and my 8-year-old son.

“Kids don’t eat broccoli, but they do eat boogers,” he said laughing loudly.

My son started laughing uncontrollably.

Quite perturbed, the girl explained, “No, sir, I don’t eat boogers anymore. But I do eat broccoli all the time.”

“Well, you used to eat boogers all the time,” the 9-year-old said.

“Well, you used to put your boogers on your underwear,” she said.

“Eeew, that’s disgusting,” said my 8-year-old.

“Well, now I put my boogers on my clothes,” said the girl.

“Eeew, that’s sick,” the boys shouted.

“OK, well most of the time I just drop my boogers on the ground wherever I’m at,” the girl admitted.

The car exploded with laughter.

And there you have it, Mom — the truth about kids and their boogers.
