Responding to Crises

MOPS International is deeply concerned about the well being of ALL the mothers and families who have been affected by fires in Southern California. Our hearts and prayers go out to every mother and family who is suffering.

The ministry of MOPS exists to encourage, equip and develop every mother of preschoolers. It’s our desire to respond to those touched by tragedy with compassion while remaining consistent with who we are and the ministry we offer to mothers and families.

Saddleback Pastor Rick Warren defined the three stages of disaster response as rescuing, resuming and rebuilding. We want to be faithful with the human and financial resources given to our ministry. After much prayer and consideration, MOPS International has determined the following ways we can uniquely reach out to people affected by a disaster:

Rescuing
Because MOPS International is not a relief organization and don’t have the expertise to collect material and financial contributions for redistribution, we encourage those interested in rescue operations to seek appropriate venues for this effort.

Resuming
We encourage mothers to communicate stories, offer encouragement and share opportunities for involvement through our web forums. We also encourage MOPS moms and groups to respond both personally and as a part of their local church efforts to help.

Rebuilding
Together, we continue to grow MOPS, and minister to all mothers and families in our nation and around the globe – which is what we do best!

Each of us needs to respond to disasters with our prayers and financial support as God leads. As people rebuild, we trust God to provide for MOPS as we reach out to all mothers and families with the hope and love of Jesus Christ.
