Be a MOPS Star!
Video Guidelines

Every year, MOPS International produces training and curriculum DVDs as well as video for MOPS events! And we need footage and testimonies that represents the diversity of MOPS groups all over the world to tell the story of MOPS. That’s where you come in!

Current Content Needs:

Coming Soon!

Included are directions that you can easily follow outlining content as well as tips on how to shoot video.

Suitable Formats:
We can use many formats including:

  • Beta sp
  • Mini-dv
  • DVCam
  • D-9
  • DVD

Shooting Quality Video:

  • Keep the Camera Still While Shooting: If you have a tripod, it may be helpful for some shots, otherwise, just be aware of keeping the camera as still as possible. You can still walk, and move around, just keep this in mind.
  • Audio: For general footage, audio can just be ambient, using the on-camera (built-in) microphone. For testimonies, please be aware of background noise and either step away from the group (keeping them visually in background) or go into a quiet room. If you can, please plug an external microphone into the camera, if not, use the on-camera microphone, and position the camera as close to the person speaking as is comfortable.
  • Only ‘record’ usable footage: Avoid keeping the camera on at all times (ie; while you are walking around, with the camera down at your side.) Please press record when you want to record, and pause when you are finished with that scene.
  • Lighting: Be aware of your exposure by checking the shot on the viewfinder. Try not to shoot directly into a window or bright light. For Testimonies, if there isn’t enough light, you can place a lamp (without shade) a few feet in front of the person speaking, but not in the camera shot.

Other Content Needs:
We are looking for the following video:

MOPS Meets Here
Video from street/parking lot, showing moms as they enter the building. If possible, show “MOPS MEETS HERE” sign.

MOPS Meeting
General footage of a MOPS meeting from beginning to end. Show Moms interacting, listening to speaker, discussion groups, picking up kids in MOPPETTS, leaving group.

Have fun with this! Show us what makes your group unique. Maybe have the whole group say where you’re from, etc.

MOPS Steering Team Meeting
General footage of Steering Teams leaders interacting, planning, etc.

Testimonies (audio requirement, see below)
Ask different Moms questions about MOPS on camera. For example:
How has MOPS impacted your life? The lives of your family?

Note: It is important that each answer include the question they are answering. For example: “Has MOPS changed your life?” WRONG answer: "Yes it has, it’s been amazing.” Because the viewing audience won’t have heard the question, they won’t know what she’s saying ‘yes’ to. Instead, the CORRECT answer would be: “MOPS has definitely changed my life.”

Send us a video of your MOPS group in action. Whether you are able to utilize some of the multimedia equipment and staff from your church, or you have a home-video camera of your own — we are excited about using your video for upcoming MOPS projects.
