Puppy Party

 A puppy party, with guests tumbling together like a litter of puppies, will provide plenty of fun photo opportunities and adorable album pages to enjoy for years to come.
Invitations
Attach the party information to a dog bone or create an invitation on white paper with black spots.
Decorations
Create a jumbo-sized dog house out of a cardboard box. Decorate with puppy pictures, accessories and puppy-face Mylar balloons.
Food
Mini corn dogs with dipping sauces served in new dog dishes (for children three and up) and a Puppy Cake. Puppy Cake: Bake a heart-shaped cake. Place the cake, pointed side up on a cake plate. Arrange two Twinkies on either side of the point for ears. Frost in your favorite puppy fur color. Set two white gumdrops for eyes; place a black gumdrop between the curves of the heart for a nose. Cut a piece of red fruit roll and place it under the nose for a tongue.
Costumes
Create dog-ear hats by attaching two oblong construction paper ears to a construction paper headband. Paint noses black.
Craft
Allow guests to decorate the cardboard box dog house as they arrive.
Games
- Fetch- Throw clean socks or gloves and have guests crawl to the item and bring it back in their mouth.
- Red Rover- Divide guests into two teams, facing each other and holding hands. Teams should be at least 10 feet apart. One team calls out, “Red Rover, Red Rover, send (name child on other team) right over.” That child runs to the other team and tries to break through between players. If the child succeeds, she can bring a member of the other team back to her team. If she cannot break through, she must join the opposing team.
- Barking Contest- Have guests take turns barking into a microphone. Play the tape and try to guess who is barking.
- Puppy Obedience School- Play like “Simon Says.”
Read a Clifford or Spot book.
Favors
Puppy hats, dog tags, plastic dog figurines, coloring book with dogs.
