Humor in the Challenges of Life
We train ourselves to look for whole grain, low fat, and low in sugar. Let's add humor to that list.
Finding humor in difficult situations can be challenging for all of us. Recently, mom Sheri Plucker shared with MOMSense Magazine how she and her husband find "Humor in the Challenges of Life."
"Laughter warms the heart, soothes the soul, and has been known to alleviate stress in difficult situations. An unforeseen challenge opened our eyes to a new perspective on life; our 5-year-old daughter with Down syndrome. Daily she demonstrates her purpose on earth through her contagious smile, love, and laughter.
"[In the grocery store], while others rush by avoiding eye contact, Hailey waves her hand high into the air with a smile and says, 'good morning!' She persists to call out, 'Hello... hello, HELLO!' until she attracts someone's attention.
"They usually stop, turn their cart around, and make a point of shacking Hailey's hand, with a friendly, 'Why good morning little lady!' They always depart with a smile on their face. Hailey has charmed another person with her friendliness, spunky personality, and her captivating smile that no one can resist.
"We are blessed with a daughter with Down syndrome who teaches us to live each day to the fullest-through kindness, prayer, guidance from God, and a touch of laughter that carries us through the good and bad times. Remember to search for humor in the challenges of life. A little laughter goes a long way."
