Be you, Bravely

be you, bravely

October 8, 2014

It seems we spend all of our time doing two things- living and waiting to live.

If you are like us, that waiting to live category is comprised of a few things that make us uncomfortable, things that require courage to act. For us it means that we have dreams we want to see realized, conversations that we need to have and decisions we have been avoiding.

Sometimes realizing how significant an action is makes it harder to accomplish. We become paralyzed from acting because starting feels risky. The urgency of the day to day demands become the easiest to achieve. Days, months and even years go by with the same opportunities standing in front of us- waiting to be chosen.

What we all seem to have in common is that we need a nudge. A nudge to get us out of our ruts and routines so that we can be reminded to risk bravely.

At MOPS we believe that you were meant to live deeply and so we have created this year’s theme to inspire you to choose the extraordinary.

Be you, Bravely is designed to help us become more ourselves. To remind us that courage is always worth it and that we are all in this together. Cheering each other on toward our futures is the gift of community at MOPS.

We are so excited to journey alongside you this year as we ask one another what it means to “Be you, Bravely.”

You want one of these shirts, don't you?

We couldn't wait to get our hands on them either. Head to our online store and click theme. The shirt is listed at the bottom.

By the way...

Our kind friends at a small print shop helped us make these shirts. They'd be happy to help you make shirts for you as well. (Just not the shirt in the video, those you have to buy from us.)

There are lots of ways to join us as we live bravely this next year.

Hello, Darling blog

We'll be here, sharing stories of courage. Encouraging each other. Reminding one another, that the little voice within our soul beckoning us to something more is real, and worth listening to. There will be videos, interviews and real-life accounts of courage.

MOPS Membership

When you beocme a MOPS member you join the tribe of women raising the world together. This year's membership focuses on the courage to Be you, Bravely. The welcome kit includes A Courage Key - a charm that you can wear on a necklace to help you embrace your inner courage, and then pass on to another woman when they need the reminder more than you do. Plus, you'll receive lots of other great benefits in the welcome kit and throughout the year.

(Pssssst. Want to know more about those courage keys?)

Join a MOPS Group

Journey into bravery sitting across the table from moms who are venturing into bravery themselves. Seriously. Do it. We dare you.

Sometimes when someone asks us to dream big, it can be overwhelming. But, if you were to narrow it down to just one thing... if you had more courage, what's that one thing you would do?

Share your thoughts

If I had more courage the one thing that I would do is start facing conflicts head on rather than trying to avoid them all of the time. Sometimes, we just need to get through the ice in order to get the water.

Ending the year in May leaderless, our MOPS group didn't even have a steering meeting scheduled. I was content to continue doing hospitality, ignoring the tugs on my spirit to step up. Then one day I awoke with all the details of what it would take to change our MOPS meeting location swirling in my head. I knew He was asking me to step up to the plate. So, I jumped in with both feet knowing that this was WAY out of my comfort zone. Recognizing that most of the time I will feel overwhelmed and want to back out. I stepped up in faith trusting God, the One who called me, to have my back and give me courage. So I announced it to my other MOPS moms and checked out MOPS.org for insight on how to do this job. There, on the home page was this years theme; Be You, Bravely. Ok I get it God, you've got my back. Right? Everyday has been a step of faith out of my comfort zone. Yet I know I am being me Bravely and God has never left me.

Good for you! God does have your back. I stepped up for leadership 2 years ago to Coordinator. God will carry you, but find a couple mentor moms to be your prayer support too. Mine were indispensable to me. Prayers for an awesome and powerful year in your bravery!

2 Timothy 1:7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. I enjoy MOPS and the encouragement of their lessons. However, I find it so lacking in drawing women closer to God. It's truly disappointing the LACK of mentioning our Father who created us, Jesus who saves us, and the Holy Spirit that equips us to be brave. Women who attend need to hear this. They'll hear it from those MOPS leaders (hopefully) who are so bold to say it, but why can't MOPS say it too?

I just came to the MOPS website in hopes to find some scripture verses that related to the theme. I was a little surprised, as well. If they are posted, they are not easily found on this website.

Spending time with uplifting, genuine friends always helps emphasize the beauty within.

Elizabeth, it sure does. It sure does. :)

Mandy, My mom and I are so excited for the theme of MOPS this year. We are fascinated by the freedom of birds, and we love what the feather symbolizes. May I kindly ask you where your feather necklace is from that you wore so beautifully in the video? I would love for my mom and I to have one that symbolizes our friendship and mutual love for Gods "feathery" creatures. Thank you for capturing the feather in such a beautiful way Mandy. Blessings, Stacy.

Hi Stacy, I think it is so fun that you noticed my necklace. I bought it from a store on etsy. Here is the link ...https://www.etsy.com/transaction/181327968 I actually bought them for a bunch of friends because I thought they were so cute and captured our theme this year.

Mandy, I love this video and can't wait to order a shirt! Beautiful theme! My son always collects feathers for me and I have recently started a feather jar on my dinning room table. love the symbolism of them! Also, where did you get the bracelets you are wearing in the video? I love them!

Casie! I absolutely love the idea for a feather jar. I may have to create one at my house! Ok, so as far as the bracelets go, one of them was a bracelet that my daughter got in a goody bag at a birthday party... I am pretty sure that it is from Oriental Trading Company (yes I am wearing jewelry from Oriental Trading Company ;) . The second one is a friendship bracelet that my other daughter made for me (she is all about friendship bracelets right now). And the last one with wooden beads was from Claire's. So basically it is a very random pairing of wrist candy. P.S. Would LOVE to see a picture of your feather jar. xoxo

I love this theme! The one thing I would do is to start listening to God's voice in doing what he's calling me to step up and start doing.

Denise, sometimes that voice is quiet and buried deep within. But, I hope you find it. :)
