Give the gift of mom friends this Mother’s Day!

1. What is a cap sleeve!?

A sleeve extending slightly over the shoulder and tapering to nothing under the arm, just as you see in this photo of Jodhi May.

2. What are the down sides to wearing a cap sleeve?

The cap sleeve can create the illusion that your arm is larger than it really is … the way the sleeve stops at the largest part of your arm will cut the arm making that particular sleeve unflattering for anyone who might have larger arms.

Another reason the cap sleeve might not be for you is if your shoulders are wider than your hips. This can make you look like a linebacker which is something we as women try to avoid since the horrible shoulder pad trend of the 80’s, which was definitely not the most flattering!

Make the cap sleeve work no matter what your body type by adding a full skirt for balance, creating that wonderful hourglass shape!

3. What can a cap sleeve do for you?

If you have a narrow shoulder span this can help expand that area, creating a more balanced look. Also if your hips are a wider than your shoulders you can wear a cap sleeve to draw the eye up and away from the hip area. This photo shows how a cap sleeve can balance the width of the hips by creating a wider shoulder through the magical illusions of a cap sleeve!
